Date: 2025-06-14
Version: 1.0

---

**CONCEPT SUMMARY**
Grid Gauntlet is a movement-based strategy sport where players must cross a dynamic zone grid filled with random events and blockers. The goal is to reach the opposite end of the grid while minimizing penalties and making quick strategic choices.

---

**REQUIRED EQUIPMENT**

- 6x6 square grid field marked with cones or chalk lines
- Colored tiles or cards indicating random zone effects
- Obstacle materials (e.g., mini hurdles, cones, rope barriers)
- Dice or spinner to determine zone activation
- Stopwatch and clipboard
- Penalty tokens

---

**FIELD LAYOUT**

- A grid field of 36 equal zones (6 rows × 6 columns)
- Each zone has a hidden or assigned “effect”
- Start at one end of the grid and finish on the opposite end

---

**PLAYER ROLES**

- 2–4 players per team
- 1 moderator to activate zone effects
- 2 zone monitors to manage obstacles
- 1 official timekeeper

---

**GAME OBJECTIVE**

Navigate your team across the grid with the fewest penalties and fastest completion time.

---

**BASIC RULES**

1. Players must move in a forward path through the grid.
2. Before stepping into a new zone, a player must roll a die or spin to activate the zone’s effect.
3. Effects could include: speed bonus, forced crawl, obstacle detour, freeze for 5 seconds, or reroute.
4. Team must communicate and strategize which grid paths to take.
5. Penalties include: stepping out of bounds, ignoring zone effects, or skipping rows.
6. Winning is based on speed and lowest penalty total.

---

**VARIATIONS / SCALING IDEAS**

- **Stealth Mode**: Some zones are “traps” that must be spotted
- **Reverse Gauntlet**: Teams must go there and back
- **Team Relay**: Next player must pick up where last left off
- **Zone Theft**: Teams can block one zone from opponent’s path

---

**STAT TRACKING SUGGESTIONS**

- Total completion time
- Penalties per player
- Successful zone effect responses
- Fastest path used
- Team decision quality rating

---
